Today’s workout: 4.0 miles easy while watching Jeopardy! + 1.11 miles of stairs!
Hey friends. We’re back at home. Back to the blog. And I’m in serious denial that I picked up a cold in Minnesota.
The good news? We had turkey in the freezer leftover from our early newlywed Christmas celebration! We didn’t have much else in the fridge so Kevin bravely went to the grocery store alone. I think that’s the first time I’ve ever sent him on a “bigger” shopping trip alone. Once in a while to get a bag of powdered sugar or something, but not for more than one meal! He did really well. The only mistake I noticed was that he conveniently did not see the note “small” beside the Reese’s Pieces on the list and brought home the biggest bag he could find. I see right through that. I know he just wants leftovers!!
Kevin whipped these tasty sandwiches right up while I was prepping for Cookie Friday and tomorrow’s lunch. The only problem was that the stuffing had a sell by date from 2009. For some reason, we thought that would be fine. It’s just bread crumbs, right? Wrong. It tasted extremely stale even when masked with cranberry sauce and/or gravy.
But my plate was awesome! We had half a giant baked potato on the side topped with some nonfat Greek yogurt and broccoli. Kevin made several panini variations including one that, of course, included jalapeños! I’m really looking forward to some of the things I made for tomorrow.
I’m so happy to be jumping back into healthier eating habits. Kevin thinks we should wait till January 1, but I was like no. way. As much as I love eggnog, Papa Murphy’s, and endless Christmas dinners, I am tired of junk food hangovers!!
Earlier…
Lunch today was also veggie happy! I was really digging to the bottom of the barrel since we hadn’t gone grocery shopping at all yet so I was thrilled to find a bag of steamers broccoli in the freezer. I don’t think Kevin James was as excited. I threw in some whole wheat pasta and a sauce I invented using canned tomatoes + tomato basil soup, and we had a pretty decent lunch. A little lacking in protein, but I did my best!
Plus a leftover Skinny Gingerbread Cookie for dessert! I LOVE gingerbread cookies that have been in the freezer!! They’re the best!! Kevin enjoyed his covered in frosting, but I’m just feeling anti-sugar after the holidays.
Check out my awesome new night light! It was a gift from a co-worker when I went back in to the office today. How did she know I love night lights? Of course, I felt the need to immediately volunteer that I’m afraid of the dark. I’d be thrilled to keep it in the bedroom, but I don’t think Kevin would be a fan. Plus I have him there to protect me. So it has currently taken up residence in the bathroom! I’ve been wanting a night light for a while. I’m not sure where the one we had in our old house went. Kind of a random gift to give a co-worker, but it won my heart. She knew not to give me chocolates or snacks… She sits really close to me so she hears the steady barrage of “no, thank you,” when people are offering me treats at work.
While I was in Minnesota shopping at TJ Maxx, I found the perfect travel outfit. Remember all the pink velour I saw in the airports?
Pink. Velour. And BLINGED!!!!! Plus I’m a BCBG fan.
And just check out that detail on the pockets. They didn’t have the pants in a small or I would’ve been so tempted. Kevin was totally giving in too! He was like,”I know you want BCBG.” What a wise man. I once spent months hunting down the BCBG floral applique dress in my size. Which I never ended up wearing because it was so stinking cold the night of our wedding non-rehearsal.
And now… the answers to the 2 funny questions!!
Question 1: Name the book with as the first line: Christmas won’t be Christmas without any presents!
Love that book!! Jo is my fave, obviously. Who’s your favorite March sister? Remember when Joey Tribbiani read Little Women? I couldn’t find the clip in English.
Question #2: What is Kevin doing in the video?
Some of my favorite answers:
- Joanie via text: Being the Grinch Who Stole Christmas.
- Spinach & Sprinkles: Ahhhh, I wish I knew! But, I have no idea what he is doing…. Maybe tracking through a snowstorm to put something in the oven? That is my best guess.
- Amy: He’s rescuing a dog from the quicksand swamp.
- Neon Blonde Runner: I think Kevin’s riding a tri bike with aero bars!!
Neon Blonde runner was definitely the closest. Kevin was just trying to RIDE A BIKE!! What would you do in charades if you had to ride a bike? Kevin, my mom, and AJ were all doing that motion (they were following Kevin). They were all convinced that it was SO EASY so I had to prove to them how ridiculous it was. Haha. I know I would’ve gotten on the floor and done the buddy bicycle game thing. You know what I mean, right?
Time to go pretend not to be sick some more!! 1 more day in my 2-day work week!! Holla!
Do you sleep with a night light? Be honest.
Have you read Little Women? I know no one cares, but there was an answer in Jeopardy! tonight about A Little Princess! It was the $1,000 question. And the LIBRARIAN got it wrong!! She guessed The Secret Garden. Unbelievable. But Little Women is so good.
Would you be caught dead in pink velour? We’d have to see how it looks on. It probably looks best on the super thin, but J-Lo rocks it too!
How many days did you have to work this week? 2. And maybe just 1.5!! :) :)
